About us
The Other Side...?Comedian Dan Atkinson established the Other Side Comedy Club in York in 2001. It still runs every Sunday at The City Screen, providing the city with one of its most treasured night outs; go there if you get the chance. Huge respect for Dan for allowing us to trade with the same name, and to double up on acts, he really is a top bloke. In October 2003 we launched in Scarborough, and have been thrilled with a stream of full houses ever since, providing antidote for all those who say nothing ever happens in this part of the world. In February we launched in Whitby to more critical acclaim, and in summer 2004 we opened in Bridlington. In 2006 we opened new clubs in Scunthorpe, Doncaster and Grimsby. 2007 sees Hull and Louth join the happy family, and we're currently planning Berlin, Paris and Rome, so if anyone knows of anyone with a tank that would help. Our audiences are warm and diverse, ranging from teenagers to the retired, making it a unique night with a special atmosphere. Comics who visit tell us that it’s a gem of a club. That is credit to you. Long may it continue. What the Press Say...‘Hilarious, the best show in town?….few would doubt it.’ ‘The capacity audience was left needing oxygen by a tour de force performance, and in no doubt that they had witnessed master class of comedy. The Other Side returns in the summer; if this sell-out season was anything to go by, you’d better start booking now!’ ‘The events are brilliantly organised and some nights there I have come away actually hurting because I have laughed so much. I defiantly recommend you go down and check it out and if you don’t like it go one more time just to make sure! Amazingly good. And all hail the ant costume, 'thats right'. ‘The Other Side comedy club is returning to the Bradley Court Hotel and is billed to be the best season yet (now that’s saying something). If you all want a fantastic night out with a difference then get down there. This is by far the best show in Scarborough and I can't praise it enough’. ‘I popped down last week and it was a breath of fresh air for the town – great up to the minute entertainment at a very reasonable price. The audience was laughing non stop for well over two hours. Headliner Gavin Webster was brilliant. You don’t get many live stand-up comedy shows of this standard in Bridlington and I would urge everyone to show their support. Don’t miss a great show’ Pick of the Day – The Other Side Comedy Club, Comedy Alfresco, Scarborough with Andy Askins Whitby Gazzette |
